Take me out to the ballgame
Cerveza Montejo tailgate at Dodger Stadium
Gap chambray dress (I like this one too) and straw tote, Kenneth Cole necklace, Maui Jim sunnies
We recently had the absolute pleasure of working with Cerveza Montejo – the authentically Mexican beer. Through this program, we worked with so many talented recipe developers and content creators. It may go down as one of my favorite digital launches when it comes to the food and beverage world. I mean, the brand even set up a tailgate event for their LA based contributors, where we all got to drink micheladas, take a tour through Dodger Stadium, meet Manny Mota, try out our swings at the batting cage, hang out in the dugout and eat … a lot.
But first, what to wear? My friend laughed when I said I did not have baseball stadium gear. I’m either perfecting my yoga mom look or wearing heels. Plus, it was also a work related event, and I just didn’t feel right wearing sneakers and a jersey. Come to think of it, I’ve never worn a jersey or a sports shirt for the exception of this Soccer picture I took with my son. So I had to find something that was work and Dodger stadium appropriate.
What to do?
My solution for denim was chambray. It’s light, comfortable, chic … and a perfect fabric to wear when working with clients on a very hot day for a casual meeting or event. I chose a sheath cut, which covered all basis for looking professional and casual all in one.
My other issue (I know. Major first problems) was that I knew the dugout and grass areas were a big no for heels. In general, I think we can put down the heels for sport events, but that’s just me. Flats or sandals were the obvious choice … but since a dusty foot is not a good look for anyone, I went on a hunt for a low block heel and found these really comfortable (and NYC walking approved) Steve Madden ‘Rosana’ sandals.

My outfit was a success (I would certainly hope so after all that!) and it looked very “cute” as I proved to the world (those darn periscopers) that I had no batting cage game whatsoever. My chambray sheath was also very forgiving when I attempted to stuff it with one hearty (but, oh, so savory) meal after another. Chef Eddie Ruiz of of LA’s Corazón y Miel is my new queso fundido hero.
This was our dinner setting. I mean, really. How could I not write a blog pot about this experience? Unless I join the Dodgers, I can’t think of a reason why I would be eating dinner on their stadium field again.
Apparently this gallina embriagada (marinaded in Montejo beer) was divine. I wouldn’t know. I stepped away to do some coverage (I was there to work after all) and it was devoured. Thanks, guys!
Isn’t this beautiful? Cielito Lindo ala mariachi as we ate. How can anyone stay bitter about meals disappearing with something this wonderful taking place?
OK. I was slightly bitter. The dishes were that good.
You can see the full menu on my friend’s blog – The Other Side of the Tortilla.
What an incredible evening. Thanks so much Montejo!
