Inspiring Orgullo
We recently hosted a lunch with Orgullosa at the lovely Culina Restaurant in Beverly Hills to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the many beautiful and digitally savvy mujeres we work with everyday. It’s such a great feeling to be part of a strong community of dedicated women who are working toward their dreams of entrepreneurship. These women found something they were passionate about and ran with it. I admire their courage to be … themselves.
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Orgullosa
Orgullosa is a community for Latinas by Latinas. Along with a variety of P&G brands, they work diligently to inspire by sharing tips, ideas, stories and experiences that many Latinas can identify with in addition to providing an array resources for families.
During the brunch, we got to see a set a videos launched to inspire orgullo all across social media. I identified so much with their message and actually got a bit misty eyed. I was born and raised in the Bronx, New York by mother, who is of Puerto Rican descent. My mother was raised in NYC but my grandparents were from the island so I had the privilege of experiencing both worlds. My grandmother was very traditional while my mom worked very hard to pursue an education and career. Because of them, I felt empowered and proud to be a Latina. They taught me hard work, determination and pride.
Today, I get to be part of a community who feels the same about their heritage, like my amiga Jeannetter Kaplun who is one of the featured women in Orgullosa’s #InspireOrgullo video series.
