Easter chic with Kohl’s

This post is in collaboration with Kohl’s and Latina Bloggers Connect. Opinions are mine.

Ever since I was a little girl, my family always set up a beautiful spread for guests while my mom cooked Easter dinner. We would go to church, pick up my grandmother from home and set a table with appetizers and things to drink while my mom made her famous asopao de camarones. It’s a tradition that I’ve kept even when it was just my son and I at home alone as a homage to my family back east, who I love and miss dearly. May the traditions live on!

Spring at Kohls

This weekend, my fiancé and I went to Kohl’s to pick out a few servers for our Easter spread. We always set up the table with delicious appetizers to keep us fed while we cook. Well, while he cooks. He makes a phenomenal asopao de camarones, similar to my mother’s recipe. While things are going on in the kitchen, we like to play music and snack on olives, cheese and dips. We got this really cool Food Network bamboo serving tray for some of our favorite mediterranean snacks. We decided to go with items that can be used year round for a variety of occasions.

To give the table a Spring touch, we bought this really pretty pastel colored table runner. Our dining room is blue so this matched perfectly while softly bringing in the colors of the season. Whether you’re looking for something more floral, simple or seasonal, Kohl’s has a nice collection of runners and table cloths to choose from.

Kohl’s has so many pretty items that could be used throughout Spring and Summer. I decided to forgo the bunnies and instead I chose to “Easter-fy” a few of their products for a bit of longevity. I got these really pretty vintage style candle holders from Sonoma, and used them as baskets to give my table a more chic look. I simply added Easter eggs and filler grass, and done.

The Easter baskets and eggs were placed randomly throughout the table. It gave life to our white dishes, like this serving bowl. I love white dinnerware and serving dishes because it lets you showcase your meals and dining accessories. I’m all about a clean, minimalistic look.

We like mixing modern design with rustic textures, so we went with small square dinner plates like these from Food Network and this beautiful cracker and cheese tray, which had plenty room left for fruits and veggies. My fiancé had too much fun laying out the different cheeses and berries while I enjoyed eating everything! Unless you want your brie gone within minutes, do not put it in front of me. Have you ever wrapped a slice of brie around blueberries? Oh, my.

I bought this artificial plant on sale. It was decorated for St. Patrick’s Day with glittery shamrocks that I cut off. I liked the idea of mixing it in with the flowers on our table to give it a garden feel.

One of the best things about setting up a spread while we cook any holiday dinner is that my son often stops by to grab some cheese, crackers and fruit. If the music is just right, he will do a dance or two (he loves jazz). If he has friends over, they pretty much just gather around the table the whole time. I love to hear them and enjoy themselves. That’s what it’s all about.

To coordinate with our lovely table runner, we got these pretty green pastel hemstitch napkins, which come in a variety of colors. We could’ve gone with yellow, blue or ivory but love this shade of green. We also picked up some extra silverware (individually) for a few of our friends who are stopping by. Plus, we really just wanted to get these mini forks!

You can’t set up a spread without a mimosa or sangria. A fruity drink for Spring is in order. We picked out these hourshape glasses to add some curviness to our very geometric table. I mean, who doesn’t love curves? Whatever your taste, Kohl’s has a really nice selection of glasses if you’re planning to entertain guests.

Our table is ready for Easter! Thank you Kohl’s being part of our celebration. I hope you all have a lovely weekend and start to Spring. Cheers!
