Rachel Matos is an entrepreneur, speaker, & content creator
I’m a former museum lecturer and program curator from NYC, where I studied art and history at the School of Visual Arts and Columbia University.
I’m also an exhibited portrait artist, national speaker, and CEO at Blue Lotus Collective, a creative agency focusing on branding and social marketing.
My skills in audience development and art interpretation led to me a career in digital marketing, starting with the acclaimed Latinx women empowerment network, #WeAllGrow Latina, where I worked as the director of influencer relations and social media.
Considered an OG in the social marketing landscape, I’m a sought-after speaker and writer with features in NBC News, Zoe Report, Buzzfeed, Latina Magazine, and more.

After studying illustration and museum education at the School of Visual Arts and art history at Columbia University, I worked for close to 17 years as a museum professional in New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. I lectured, taught art classes and curated education programs for several museums like Guggenheim NY, The Met, Bronx Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, LACMA and the Norton Simon Museum. I’m also an exhibited artist (portfolio coming soon) and published essayist. The ability to create art, work with extraordinary collections and teach was everything I wanted to do since I was a child.
Life being the unpredictable force that it is brought upon many changes in the form of a cross-country move, divorce and a career change. This time, I was the blank canvas and the artist, and found myself with the opportunity to rebuild and grow. And with one colorful stroke at a time, I’ve reinvented and created a life I love for me and my son, who is now a young man in college. But like any painting, it’s never fully done.
I started this site/blog as an outlet for me to share things that inspired me while I navigated through a new city and new life. While searching for blogger communities to engage with, I found #WeAllGrow Latina Network. The company was a start-up in the very beginning stages with an opening for a position that really had no name at the time. I basically stepped in as a jack of all trades, and as the company formed and grew, I became Project Manager, Account Executive and Director of Social Media and Influencer relations. I was able to use my background in community building, education, aesthetics, storytelling, writing and public speaking into the virtual world, and I’ve never looked back.
I’ve spoken around the US at conferences and universities on the topics of storytelling in the digital space, women empowerment and entrepreneurship, and most recently mental health and social media.
From stand alone presentations and panels to workshops, I’ve been fortunate to connect with so many extraordinary people in the influencer and entrepreneurial space online all over the world.
One of the topics that is near and dear to my heart is how I continue to thrive with a chronic pain disorder. After writing a post about my struggles with TMJ, I realized, based on the incredible response I received by so many who live with the same thing, that it was time I start sharing more about the realities of entrepreneurship from all walks of life.
In 2017, I went off on my own and built my own digital and social marketing agency called Blue Lotus Collective. Since our launch, we’ve worked with international brands, thought leaders, organizations and businesses, by providing digital strategy, consultation, content creation and execution as well influencer marketing events. Our focus is to create an unforgettable digital footprint for clients who are seeking to reach multicultural audiences.
Becoming an entrepreneur has been a dream come true, and it’s been an exciting journey thus far. In addition to my work online, I continue to paint, and will be updating my site to reflect new pieces I’m working on. Can’t wait to share what’s next.
