This week has been one of the most exhausting yet rewarding weeks I’ve had in a long time. Shew. I did a lot of driving in this crazy LA traffic but I made so much business progress, I can’t complain – at all. I’m consulting for an agency and we signed on 4 new clients at Blue Lotus. Even though I dreaded it, every hour on the 10 west was totally worth it. But I will admit, I’m insanely happy I don’t have to do quite as much stop and go next week.

I also accomplished my first full week of the Slow Carb Diet, which I talked about last week. I basically eat protein, legumes/beans and green veggies 6 days a week. No sugar, drinks (just water). I can have wine, however. I’ve been on the plan a total of 10 days, and I’ve lost 7 pounds. You get one cheat day where you can go balls to the wall with whatever you love or miss eating. So whenever I craved a pupusa this week, I reminded myself that I can 100 of them if I wanted to on Saturday and that a little self-control will go a long way. Trust me, not easy to do but I survived.

In the last two years or so, I gained 35 pounds. It was mostly due to eating way too many carbs for a variety of reasons 1. Comfort after not being well for so long 2. Going gluten-free and substituting white flour with corn and rice products 3. I wear a 24/7 orthotic on my bottom teeth so it’s just easier to chew on softer foods (mashed potatoes, noodles, etc). But this year I made a plan to not only lose my carbalicious weight but to exercise consistently (which I have been doing thanks to Popsugar) and listen to my Naturopath about laying off grains and foods that turn into sugar. My body just doesn’t like it.
